Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026
Effective: October 3, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains cookies and similar browser technologies on the Varnell Lens storefront. It distinguishes the behavior of the custom website sections from storage or tracking that may depend on Shopify, the theme or installed applications.

01. What cookies and similar technologies do

A cookie is a small text record that a website or service asks a browser to store. It can be returned on a later request to remember a session, preference or other identifier. Session cookies normally last for the current browsing session; persistent cookies may remain until their expiration or until you remove them.

Other technologies can serve related purposes. Browser local storage and session storage hold information in a browser; pixels and similar resources can communicate technical information when loaded. The relevant privacy treatment depends on the technology’s purpose and the information involved, rather than only on whether it is called a cookie.

02. Scope of this website

The Varnell Lens site presents remote photo processing and image preparation services. It is delivered through a Shopify storefront, and the platform, active theme and installed applications may provide functions beyond the custom sections.

A platform cookie inventory can change when settings or applications change. This document does not invent a fixed list of cookie names or expiration times. Where the storefront offers a cookie notice or preference panel, use the current information there to understand the technologies active for your visit.

03. The custom sections

The custom Varnell Lens sections use JavaScript for the menu, required-field checks, project dialog, client-note navigation and visual appearance animations. They do not create cookies, local-storage records or session-storage records. They do not install an advertising pixel, analytics SDK or independent cross-site tracking system.

The custom project form keeps its entered values in the current page and displays a local confirmation. It does not transmit those details, store them in a custom cookie or save them to browser storage through the supplied code. The browser may offer its own autofill functionality independently of this website code. Closing or refreshing a page may clear the visible form; browser-managed behavior is controlled by your browser.

04. Strictly necessary technologies

Strictly necessary technologies support a function you request or the basic operation and security of the storefront. Depending on the active Shopify functions, this may include request handling, session integrity, security measures, privacy-preference records or other essential platform operations.

Where the law permits, such technologies do not require optional-cookie consent because they are needed for the requested service. Their use should still be limited to that necessary purpose. Disabling or blocking essential storage in your browser can affect the functioning of some platform features, even though the custom form itself does not rely on a custom cookie.

05. Preference and functionality technologies

An active theme or application may use a preference technology to remember a setting, such as a regional choice or display preference. Whether it is necessary or optional depends on the feature and the applicable law. The existence of a possible Shopify feature does not mean that Varnell Lens has enabled it.

Where optional functionality is enabled, it should be described in the storefront’s current privacy controls. If it is not enabled, this policy should not be read as a claim that the corresponding cookie is present. The custom menu and client-note controls do not persist their state between visits.

06. Analytics technologies

Analytics technologies, if enabled separately, can help measure page use, traffic sources or performance. They may process identifiers, device information, events or approximate location derived from an IP address. Their exact behavior depends on the analytics provider and configuration.

The supplied custom sections add no analytics tool. Any optional platform analytics or installed analytics application should be configured and disclosed separately, and consent should be obtained before optional storage or tracking where required. A visitor’s refusal of optional analytics should be respected by the relevant integration.

07. Advertising and marketing technologies

Advertising technologies can associate visits or activity with an advertising identifier, measure campaign performance or support audience selection. Some integrations may share information with a third party or involve processing treated as sale, sharing or targeted advertising under a relevant privacy law.

The custom Varnell Lens code adds no advertising pixels or marketing trackers. If an advertising or marketing integration is later enabled through the storefront, it must be reflected in the site’s notice, applicable opt-out mechanisms and consent configuration. Necessary platform operation should not be used as a blanket reason to enable unrelated marketing tracking.

08. Shopify and other providers

Shopify operates the underlying storefront infrastructure and may process device and request information as part of providing its services. Additional behavior can depend on enabled platform settings, including Shopify Network Intelligence, and on applications installed by the merchant.

A hosted resource may receive ordinary technical information when the browser requests it. The Bodoni Moda and Bricolage Grotesque font files used by the custom sections are hosted with the website assets. Font delivery can generate ordinary hosting requests and logs. The custom sections do not require a separate browser request to Google Fonts, and font loading does not create a custom advertising cookie.

09. Consent and available privacy controls

Where applicable law requires consent for optional storage or tracking, optional technologies should remain inactive until the necessary consent is given. Merely visiting the site, scrolling or opening a project form should not be treated as consent to unrelated advertising or analytics.

If a cookie banner or preference panel is enabled for your location, it should provide the choices applicable to the storefront, including refusal of optional purposes where required. You should be able to revisit available settings and withdraw an optional choice. Essential operations may continue where legally permitted after optional consent is refused or withdrawn.

10. Changing a choice

Use the storefront’s available privacy preference controls to change a recorded consent choice. If a particular control is not visible or does not work, contact projects@varnelllens.com with the page and a description of the issue. We do not ask for account passwords or unrelated identity information to explain cookie choices.

A revised preference can affect future processing but may not automatically delete information already lawfully processed by a provider. Removing browser cookies can clear a remembered choice and cause a preference notice to appear again. Where a law gives additional rights over previously collected information, those rights are described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Browser controls and limitations

Most browsers provide settings to review or delete cookies, block particular sites or providers and limit some tracking behaviors. The available controls vary by browser and device. Private browsing may limit persistence after a session but does not prevent every technical request from being made.

Blocking all cookies can affect requested storefront functions. A browser setting may also differ from a site-specific consent record. It is useful to review both the browser controls and the available storefront preferences rather than assume that one necessarily changes the other. Device or network administrators may impose additional controls outside our website code.

12. Retention and duration

Storage duration is determined by each active technology and configuration. A session record may end when the browsing session closes; a persistent preference or platform cookie may remain for a stated period. Exact names and durations should be taken from the current active inventory rather than a list that may no longer reflect installed applications.

The custom project form does not set a retention period for a custom cookie because it does not create one. Information sent separately in an actual project communication is subject to the Privacy Policy and project arrangements, rather than being governed solely by the lifetime of a browser cookie.

13. Signals, opt-outs and related rights

Where applicable law requires recognition of a supported opt-out preference signal, the relevant storefront or advertising integration should honor it for the covered activity. A general browser “Do Not Track” setting and a legally recognized opt-out signal are not necessarily the same technology or have the same legal effect.

The custom sections do not use personal information for targeted advertising or create a cross-site profile. If an installed feature processes information for a covered advertising, sale or sharing purpose, the appropriate platform settings and choices need to be applied to that feature. You may contact us about a relevant opt-out or privacy request using the details below.

14. Updates and contact

This policy will be revised when the relevant website technology or settings change materially. The last-updated date appears at the top of the page. New optional integrations should be assessed and reflected in the notice and controls before they are activated.
